Process

The Village Bakeries is dedicated to serving our customers the best food possible.  Every menu item is made from scratch and with care using the very best ingredients we can find, and making organic choices a priority.  We are committed to the quality and craftsmanship of our food, in order to serve our customers wholesome, delicious, and beautiful food daily.  And as a result our customers can enjoy our food knowing they are eating the freshest and healthiest food possible.

Our artisan breads and pastries are all baked daily by our bakers who are masters of old world baking and pastry techniques.  Every bakery item is crafted by hand, with great ingredients, and with a diligent process. The results are highly flavorful and aesthetically exciting.

In Flat Rock our naturally leavened and organic breads are baked each day in our massive brick oven.  We slowly develop the fermentation of our breads (and bagels) over several days before they enter the oven for baking. In Fletcher all of our pastries begin their process where our bakers mix and shape everything from cookies, to danish and croissant, and cakes.

At both of our locations we have worked hard to create comfortable community gathering spots for our guest to enjoy our food and to meet their neighbors.

We are consistently committed to supporting local farmers and producers by including their products on our menu daily.  Our local suppliers include Carolina Ground flour, Farm to Home Milk, Pitch Pine Farms vegetables, Deep Woods Mushrooms, Hickory Nut Gap Farms meats, Imladris Farms jams, Holly Spring Farm tomatoes, Deerwood Farms eggs, and Counter Culture coffee.
